An Economy of Generosity
WHAT IS AN ECONOMY OF GENEROSITY?
Generosity has been the cornerstone of Eastern monastic centers for 2500 years and also for our Refuge. We believe liberation practices develop most truthfully when our residents offer their teachings and support freely. There is no cost for classes, retreats or spiritual guidance. All our expenses, including facilities and resident and retreatant support, are covered by the generosity of our wonderful community of supporters and volunteers. We are entirely sustained by the broad community of practitioners and supporters inspired by the practice, teachings, and values found at the Refuge. Your goodness and goodwill is the heart of our community reflected in the beauty of our Refuge for which we are enormously grateful.
We are currently seeking land and donations to support our residential vision for our New Mystics Refuge permanent residents. Because our residents live with environmental sensitivities, we wish to locate in an arid/semi-arid temperate climate in an ocean coastal area with access to pristine protected nature parkland. We welcome all land donations.
This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do at New Mystics Refuge. There are opportunities for non-profit development, realtors, biological builders, architects, social media, fundraising, website maintenance, newsletter development, facility maintenance, volunteer organization, permaculture, and more. Get in touch with any questions about how you can Volunteer.
GIVE A HOME
Our vision currently is to begin with 2-3 custom eco-built tiny homes that are mold resistant for our current residents and future additional residents or retreatants. We would also like to have an indoor/outdoor communal kitchen, meditation/prayer chapel and a bathhouse. If you would like to donate buildings, funds, or construction services, please contact us here.
